Bommerweier-Weg

Setting off over gentle hills and passing through fields, this hike goes on to explore the idyllic nature conservation area containing the Bommerweier lake. It is home to various species of waterfowl and amphibians. A magnificent view over the Lake Constance region brings this walk to a perfect end.

From Siegershausen railway station, this short hike initially leads through the village. The highest point, at around 550 m, is reached soon after the start; from there, the route descends gently almost throughout. Woodland, open meadows and small settlements alternate along the way. Some sections leave the marked hiking trail network, so a little care is required with navigation.

After Bommen, the trail reaches the Oberen Bommerweiher. They form part of a series of former fish ponds lying in a shallow valley hollow. Shores, woodland and pastures characterise the peaceful middle section, before the surroundings become increasingly built-up towards Kreuzlingen. Near Pfaffenwies, there is a barbecue site close to the route; shortly afterwards, the trail passes the Heiligkreuz pilgrimage chapel. The route then continues via Bernrainzelg to Kreuzlingen Bernrain railway station. A little over one hour and twenty minutes should be allowed for the approximately six kilometres.
