01/ Overview
The route
At the top of Atzmännig, an exciting ridge trail between the Toggenburg and the Zurich Oberland with views over the rolling Alpine foothills awaits snowshoers.
The seven-kilometre snowshoe tour begins at the Atzmännig (Bergstation) stop. From the top station, the route initially climbs to Schwammegg, alternating between open slopes and woodland. Rather than following a long valley trail, it stays on the heights for the first few hours, gaining elevation in several undulating stages.
In the Chrüzeggalp area, the route continues to Chrüzegg. Shortly afterwards, it reaches the tour’s highest point at around 1,310 m. The slightly out-of-the-way Tweralpspitz is the highest point in the municipalities of Wattwil and Eschenbach.
Beyond the high point, the snowshoe tour turns downhill. The longer descent leads through stretches of woodland and across open terrain towards Atzmännig. Near the end, the Atzmännig Lodge lies slightly off the route before the tour finishes at the valley station after just over three and a half hours. The Atzmännig Schutt (Talstation) stop is only a few steps from the finish.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
