Schneeschuhtrail Hemberg–Ennetbühl

Trudge over the wonderful Gössigenhöchi, the view wanders into the Thur valley and from Lake Constance to Lake Zurich: The tour from the elevated health resort Hemberg to Ennetbühl is right up the street of those who like untouched landscapes. Your constant companion is the Säntis, the highest mountain in the Alpstein region.

The snowshoe tour starts in Hemberg. The nearest bus stop, Hemberg, Dorf, is just over 400 m from the starting point. The route initially leads out of the village, descending across open terrain to its lowest point at around 810 m. After about two kilometres, the elevation profile reverses and the long ascent begins through meadows, pastures and stretches of woodland.

The climb to Gössigenhöchi involves a total ascent of around 660 metres. Towards the end of the ascent, the terrain becomes more open again; after just over three and a half hours, the highest point at just over 1,430 m is reached near the summit. From here, the route loses around 620 metres of elevation over the final three kilometres. The descent alternates between open slopes and woodland before finally reaching the first houses of Ennetbühl. After just over five hours, the snowshoe trail ends near the Ennetbühl, Dorf bus stop.
