01/ Overview
The route
Discovering quietly the mystical natural landscape on Alp Sellamatt – this trail makes it possible. In the lap of the Churfirsten you can enjoy the wonderful view up to the seven summits and over to Alpstein.
The five-kilometre snowshoe circuit begins at the Alp Sellamatt stop. It initially crosses the open expanses of the alp, climbing gently uphill. Broad alpine pastures characterise the first section, with few trees and views extending across the gentle slopes. Around halfway, the highest point is reached at approximately 1,580 m, with Zuestoll the nearest peak.
The route then descends towards Alp Sellamatt. Rather than returning directly, it makes a longer loop through the open terrain, with around 260 metres of ascent in total. Near the end, a Schweizer Familie barbecue site lies close to the trail. Shortly afterwards, the buildings of Alp Sellamatt come back into view. The circuit ends at the Sellamatt mountain inn after a little over two hours; the Alp Sellamatt stop is just a few steps further on.
