01/ Overview
The route
This hike is characterised by comfortable differences in altitude and offers a sweeping view of Switzerland's largest cow pasture, the Urnerboden. The route leads over scree-covered terrain. Along the way: the small glacier lake at the foot of the north face of the Clariden and the "Tyyfelsfriedhof" (devil’s cemetery) rock formation.
The mountain trail, marked in white-red-white, begins at the Klausen Passhöhe bus stop. It climbs briskly across open pastures, reaching its highest point near Rau Stöckli at around 2,180 m. Rocky sections interrupt the lush green landscape before the small Griessseeli appears right beside the trail.
The route then sweeps in a wide arc through the barren high-alpine landscape. This section is characterised by steady ups and downs, amounting to around 580 metres of elevation gain in total. After the lowest point, the mountain trail climbs again and passes Gemsfairenhüttli. Towards the end, it follows the open slopes towards Fisetengrat.
After nine kilometres and a little over three hours, the hike ends at the Fisetenpass mountain station. The destination is not served by public transport; the nearest bus stop, Urnerboden, Sonne, is around 1.5 kilometres away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
There may be snow on this hiking trail. Bring appropriate gear and plan accordingly.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
