01/ Overview
The route
The mountain pass area of the Klausen is without doubt one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. The high-altitude track lpasses through fantastic landscapes, majestic mountains and unique flora and fauna.
The hike begins at the Klausen Pass summit, also the highest point of the tour at 1,948 m, right by the Klausen Passhöhe stop. The Bruder-Klaus Chapel stands beside the trail at the very start. The white-red-white waymarked mountain trail then leads away from the pass across open terrain. Despite the considerable overall descent, the long route includes repeated counter-ascents; after just over an hour, it passes directly by a small Alpine inn.
The route continues over meadows and Alpine pastures in a steady succession of ascents and descents. It loses altitude only gradually at first, before reaching Alpcafe Alafund after around four and a half hours. Beyond it, woodland increasingly mingles with the open landscape as the route continues to descend towards Eggberge.
On reaching the first houses of Eggberge, the destination is almost in sight. Bistro Eggberge and the viewpoint lie slightly off the trail. A little later, the 22-kilometre hike of just over six hours ends at the Eggberge stop above Flüelen.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
