01/ Overview
The route
Historic churches, views from the Landenberg and paths along the Sarneraa and Sarnersee characterise this short tour of the village from Sarnen railway station.
From Sarnen railway station, the village tour first passes the village chapel and continues to the Sarneraa. A detour climbs to the Landenberg, the highest point of the route at around 500 m. The remains of Landenberg Castle stand on the hill, which also offers views over Sarnen and the surrounding area.
Back in the village, the route links historic buildings with short stretches along the water. It passes the Baroque parish church of St. Peter and Paul, built between 1739 and 1742, before following the Sarneraa once more. Where the river reaches Sarnersee, the path runs directly along the water. The route follows the lake as far as Seefeld before returning to the village between meadows and the houses of Sarnen.
On the final section, the collegiate church of St. Martin lies close to the route. This modern church was consecrated in 1966. The route then leads through the residential area back to Sarnen railway station, with direct connections to the Luzern–Interlaken Express.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
