01/ Overview
The route
The route starts in Grüningen in the Zürcher Oberland and leads through the picturesque Greifensee lake region, partly through a nature reserve and with open views of a fascinating plant, animal and aquatic world.
From the Grüningen, Station bus stop, the trail leads through the village. Nearby Schloss Grüningen forms a striking landmark above the houses. At just under 500 m, this is already the highest point of the hike. The Aabach soon takes the lead, accompanying the route for around three kilometres.
Between Tägernau and Mönchaltorf, the landscape is characterised by open meadows, fields and scattered settlements. The broad hiking trail is almost level and loses very little elevation overall. After just under two hours, Greifensee draws closer, although the route does not quite reach its shore.
At Silberweide, the short final section leaves the marked hiking trail network. It leads to the destination at Riedikon, Kies. The Riedikon, Chis/Naturstation bus stop is only a few steps away. For those wishing to continue to the lakeshore, Greifensee can be reached by an additional short detour.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
