01/ Overview

The route

The Lützelsee lake in the Zürcher Oberland provides the region with an extremely popular recreation area. The round tour starts in Hombrechtikon and leads through the lush green landscape alongside the sparkling lake.

The starting point is the Hombrechtikon, Post bus stop. At the outset, the route passes the Bahnhöfli and the Catholic Church of St. Niklaus. It then leaves the village behind and climbs gently between open meadows. After around one kilometre, the highest point is reached at just over 520 m. Short sections away from the marked hiking trail network interrupt the path before the route leads to Lützelsee.

Close to the shore, the Gartenbeizli Hasel offers an opportunity to stop for refreshments. The route continues through open farmland, reaching Lutikon towards the end. From there, it returns to Hombrechtikon. The walk covers around four kilometres in total and takes just under an hour. However, the finish is not directly beside a public transport stop. From the endpoint, it is around 500 m to the nearest stop, Hombrechtikon, Post.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
