01/ Overview
The route
This hike through the border area of the Canton Fribourg is all about nature and history. It leads along the Saane River to a historic 17th century bridge and from Alp La Brâ the view opens up over the Intyamon Valley.
The circular hike begins at Montbovon railway station. It leads through the village, past the church of Saint Grat, and shortly afterwards directly to the shore of Lac de Lessoc. The reservoir lies on the Saane. The long ascent then begins. Initially following a yellow-waymarked hiking trail and later a white-red-white-waymarked mountain trail, the route passes through open meadows and pastures as well as woodland.
Around halfway, the highest point is reached at approximately 1,460 m. The trail now turns downhill. The descent initially continues along the mountain trail before the terrain becomes gentler and the path widens again. Alternating between woodland and open slopes, the route returns to Montbovon. After around ten kilometres and just over four hours, the circuit ends back at the railway station, with a total ascent of approximately 780 metres.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
