Via Alpina, Stage 20/20

From Rochers de Naye, rock-restaurant and panorama of hundreds of crags and summits, the route leads along a steep ridge and sandstone cliff trail, later down over Mediterranean hills to Montreux.

The hike begins near the Rochers-de-Naye stop at around 1,950 m, the highest point on the route. The Rochers de Naye limestone massif rises above Montreux; from here, a mountain path marked in white, red and white leads down towards the valley. The view opens up at the Sautodoz viewpoint, after which the trail passes Les Dentaux and increasingly enters the forest.

After the steep opening section, the path becomes wider. It continues to lose elevation steadily and, just over halfway through the 13 kilometres, reaches the houses of Caux. The Restaurant Le Coucou and the Protestant chapel lie close to the route. Below the village, the long descent continues through stretches of woodland and inhabited hillsides. From Glion, the route descends once more on a mountain path before the final metres become easier again. After just under four hours and a total descent of around 1,650 metres, the hike ends in Montreux, a few steps from the Escaliers de la Gare stop.
