Sentier des trois tours de Leysin

This gorgeous panoramic hike leads past the three symbolic “towers” of Leysin: the Tour d’Aï, the Tour de Mayen and the Tour de Famelon. Along the way, you will also witness the two idyllic mountain lakes of Lac d’Aï and Lac de Mayen, plus an impressive karst landscape. If you get hungry or thirsty, there is plenty of choice with four mountain restaurants and buvettes (taverns).

The hike begins at Leysin, Berneuse, at just over 2,000 metres, close to the highest point of the route. Initially, a white-red-white waymarked mountain path descends through rocky, open terrain. Before long, the route passes directly beside Lac d’Aï. A little further on is the Buvette d’Aï, after which a yellow-waymarked hiking trail continues across the pastures.

From here, the route is characterised by constant ups and downs. Near Lac de Mayen, the mountain path climbs again and leads through open Alpine pastures. The long descent to Leysin remains varied: the broad slopes gradually give way to increasingly wooded sections, and the trail becomes gentler. After around nine kilometres and just under three hours, the hike ends directly at Leysin-Feydey railway station. Although the route is predominantly downhill, short counter-climbs along the way add up to around 220 metres of ascent.
