01/ Overview
The route
A panoramic ridge hike from Eisee via Höch Gumme to Sörenberg. Slate, scree slopes and moorland characterise the long descent, which requires sure-footedness.
The second stage of the Ibex Trek begins at Berghaus Eisee. The mountain trail climbs to Eiseesattel and traverses open, at times steep slopes towards Arnihaaggen. Female ibex are often seen on the scree slopes. Slate formations line the path up to Höch Gumme, where the route reaches its highest point at around 2,190 m. The panoramic views extend to the Bernese Alps and across Lake Brienz.
A long descent along the ridge follows. The white-red-white marked mountain trail requires sure-footedness; a short section runs outside the marked hiking trail network. Via Fontanen and Jänzimatt, the route enters gentler terrain with Alpine pastures and moorland. Near Glaubenbielenpass, the hike can be shortened by taking the PostBus.
Those continuing descend past Flüehütte towards the valley. The open slopes gradually give way to meadows and the first houses. After just under five hours, the hike ends in the village centre of Sörenberg; the Sörenberg, Talstation Rossweid bus stop is only a few steps away.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
