A level path with far-ranging views leads across the fields east of Lake Zurich and past various chapels and bridges. In the Middle Ages, the Linth Plain was a lake and later a swamp until about 200 years ago. Today, renaturation efforts are underway in the area.

The hike starts near Neuhaus at the Neuhaus SG, Ochsen bus stop. The waymarked trail climbs gently between residential areas and open meadows. Near Rotegg, the route reaches its highest point at around 520 metres. It then descends towards Schmerikon, where the trail runs right beside Lake Zurich.

The route follows the Aabach for a short stretch. Soon, broad meadows and fields define the flat valley floor, interspersed with isolated settlements. After a good hour and a half, the Grynau tower stands directly beside the trail. The route remains easy as it continues through open farmland to Tuggen.

Towards the end, the trail passes the Loreto Chapel in Chromen and approaches Siebnen through increasingly built-up surroundings. After 14 kilometres and a good three and a half hours, the hike ends near the Siebnen, Aabrücke bus stop. The modest elevation differences make this a pleasant, sustained valley hike.
