Descent from near-to-nature Gental with its historic hotel down to Haslital. Guttannen with the history-packed «Bären» is not only a former traders’ stage stop but also a key centre for mountain-crystal seekers.

The hike begins at the Engstlenalp bus stop at just over 1,800 metres, which is also the highest point of the route. The yellow-marked hiking trail crosses open Alpine pastures and soon begins the long descent. Restaurant Schwarzental offers an initial opportunity for a break before the trail enters the forest.

The route continues downhill via Wyler to Innertkirchen. On the valley floor, the Aare accompanies the trail for a short while. After a good three and a half hours, the lowest section is reached, bringing a change in the rhythm of the hike. Instead of continuing downhill, the route now heads back up the valley.

The final section climbs steadily between wooded slopes and small settlements. Via Boden, the trail finally approaches Guttannen. After 23 kilometres and a good six and a half hours, the hike ends in the village. From the endpoint, it is only a few minutes’ walk to the Guttannen, Dorf bus stop. Despite its overall downhill course, the long route, with around 700 metres of ascent, requires stamina.
