01/ Overview
The route
Snowshoe tour starting in Lavin, right on the Inn River. The trail climbs through the lovely forests of the Engadin, enters the side valley and crosses the Aua da Zeznina creek. Beautiful Alp Zeznina is your interim destination before you return to the valley.
The snowshoe tour in Plans begins at the Lavin, Plazza Gronda stop (around 260 m). Over roughly 8 km with about 440 m of ascent, the path first rises through dense forest, then opens out onto extensive alpine pastures. The climb becomes steeper and leads to just over 1'810 m, immediately below the Piz Giarsinom.
After the highest point a long descent follows over open terrain back to the village. The track often traverses wide slopes before the tree line and the first houses of Lavin finally reappear. Return to the starting point in Plans after just under four hours.
