01/ Overview
The route
Woodland stories, natural pastures and quiet viewpoints characterise this circuit above Seelisberg. Along the way, views open up towards the Mythen, Rigi, the Urner Alps and Fronalpstock.
From the Seelisberg, Tanzplatz bus stop, the Forester Trail initially leads through Oberdorf and soon enters the beech forest. Stories about the woodland accompany the route. At the Höch Flue viewpoint, it is worth taking in the views towards the Mythen, Rigi and the Urner Alps. Shortly afterwards, near Brandegg, the trail reaches its highest point at around 1,080 m.
The mountain trail continues through forest and across natural pastures to Scheidegg. A longer section then leaves the marked hiking trail network and descends towards Seelisberger Seeli. The small lake offers an opportunity for a swim or a picnic break.
From the lowest part of the circuit, the hiking trail climbs once more. It leads via Waldweidli and through Tannwald to Marienhöhe, where the panorama opens up towards Fronalpstock. On the final section, the houses of Seelisberg come back into view. After around three hours, the circuit ends at Tanzplatz, not far from the PostBus stop of the same name.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
