Bisses de Lentine et de Mont d’Orge

Two channels are at the heart of this walk: you’ll follow the one from Lentine until it joins Lac du Mont d’Orge with its nature reserve. The Mont d’Orge channel leads you to well-known wineries, such as «Domaine du Mont d’Or». On the way down to the valley you’ll enjoy a view of Sion from the terraced vineyards.

The hike begins at the Savièse, Drône centre bus stop in the village of Drône, at around 850 m, which is also the highest point of the route. The path starts downhill beside the Chapelle de Drône. It leaves the houses behind, crosses open meadows and briefly follows the Sionne.

Woodland, open slopes and the outskirts of settlements then alternate. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail descends almost continuously, reaching the Relais du Mont d’Orge after just over an hour. Shortly afterwards, the route passes close to the small Lac de Mont d’Orge. Above it, the ruins of the Château de Montorge stand on rocky Mont d’Orge; built in the 13th century, the castle was destroyed in 1417 and never rebuilt.

For the final third, the path follows the Bisse de Montorge. The narrow watercourse now sets the direction as stretches of woodland gradually give way to the first houses. The route descends over the gently tapering slope to Pont-de-la-Morge, where the Pont-de-la-Morge, centre bus stop lies just a few steps from the end of the hike.
