01/ Overview
The route
This tour leads along the striking River Bisse through the heart of a beautiful forest dense with larch and spruce. The views of the fabulous mountain world are simply captivating.
The approximately five-kilometre circuit begins at the Les Mayens-de-Sion, Les Plans bus stop. The waymarked hiking trail initially leads through the loosely built-up area of Les Mayens-de-Sion and soon passes the Café Restaurant du Bisse. Sections of woodland alternate with open meadows.
With gentle ups and downs, the route reaches its highest point at just under 1,350 m. There are no major climbs, but the small changes in terrain nonetheless provide variety. The trail remains on the waymarked hiking network throughout, making this a short, straightforward outing.
Woodland once again predominates on the return leg. Shortly before the end, the circuit passes the Chapelle protestante des Mayens de Sion. A little later, the loop closes at the Les Plans bus stop. A good hour and a quarter should be allowed for the entire hike.
