Chemin de Chasseral

This hike offers a magnificent 360° view of the entire Bernese Jura and much further afield. Around the Chasseral with its huge antenna and in the heart of the regional nature park of the same name, farmhouses, wooded pastures and local specialities wait to be discovered.

The 13-kilometre circular hike across the open ridge begins at the Chasseral, Hôtel bus stop. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially descends through meadows and pastures, reaching the lowest point of the circuit after just over two kilometres. The route then turns back towards higher ground. Constant ups and downs add up to a total ascent of around 540 metres. The expansive, open landscape characterises much of the trail.

Towards the end, the trail climbs noticeably more steeply and regains the elongated mountain ridge. The highest point is reached at around 1,600 m. Shortly afterwards, the Chasseral panorama viewpoint opens up sweeping views of the surrounding area before the route reaches the summit of Chasseral. At 1,606 m, it is the highest point in the Bernese Jura. The final kilometre leads back to the Hôtel, completing the circuit in just under four hours.
