01/ Overview
The route
The resort of Les Prés-d’Orvin can be reached via Mont Sujet. With one last Jura fold after Magglingen, the place where the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport is located has to be climbed at the end. The reward: a wide view of the Jura border lakes, the Swiss Plateau and the Alps.
The roughly five-hour hike begins near the Nods, bas du village bus stop. The yellow-waymarked trail leaves the village and climbs across open meadows and pastures. Sections of woodland provide variety before the broad ridge of the Mont Sujet draws closer. After just under two hours, the highest point is reached at around 1,380 metres.
On the Jura ridge, the landscape becomes broad and open. The route then descends on an easy hiking trail towards Les Prés-d'Orvin. Alternating between pastures and woodland, it leads down to the settlement. Shortly afterwards, the Restaurant La Bragarde stands directly on the route and is a good place for a break.
After the lowest section, the trail climbs once more. It leads through woodland and across open terrain to Magglingen, where the longer hike ends after 17 kilometres. The finish is right by the Magglingen, Seilbahn stop.
