01/ Overview
The route
Magnificent panoramic walk starting St-Cergue. La Dôle is the tour's highest point at 1,677 metres above sea level, offering sweeping views of the Alps and Lake Geneva. The white radar balls at the top are also visible from everywhere.
From Saint-Cergue railway station, the roughly five-hour hike initially leads out of the village before climbing into the forests of the Vaud Jura on a yellow-marked hiking trail. Alternating between open woodland and broad pastures, the route continues below the crest of La Barillette. The long ascent defines the first half of the hike; over 16 kilometres, the total elevation gain is around 900 metres.
Towards La Dôle, the terrain becomes more open. At the Panorama viewpoint, the highest section has almost been reached. At around 1'670 m, the trail passes close to the summit of La Dôle, the second-highest mountain in the Swiss Jura. Shortly afterwards, the route crosses the Col de Porte and begins a long descent.
Meadows and stretches of woodland now alternate. With no technical difficulties, the hiking trail leads down to La Givrine. Shortly before the finish, the Restaurant de la Givrine stands directly on the route; a little further on, the tour ends at the railway station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
