Sentier du Noirmont

Lovely hike into the heart of the Noirmont massif. The view of lake Geneva and the alps from the summit is unique. Along the way, you will be able to discover the geology, flora and fauna of the Jura Vaudois Regional Nature Park. The Creux du Croue, a valley basin with a peat bog, is also quite impressive.

The 14-kilometre circular hike starts directly at La Cure railway station. The waymarked hiking trail quickly leaves the village behind and passes the Chez Mamac restaurant. Open meadows and pastures soon dominate the landscape, interspersed time and again with stretches of woodland. With around 680 metres of ascent, the route requires stamina but remains technically straightforward.

Further on, the trail sweeps in a wide arc across the Jura heights. Alternating open terrain and woodland accompanies the long ascent until the ground becomes rockier near the summit. Le Noirmont is reached after just under three hours and, at 1,567 m, marks the highest point of the hike. Just beyond, a viewpoint provides an inviting place to pause. The hiking trail then descends back towards La Cure. Across pastures and through woodland, the circuit closes at the railway station after just over four hours.
