01/ Overview
The route
Located at the heart of the Jura mountains, this easy trek in the valley of La Sagne runs with little heigh difference from North-East to South-West. Typical of the Jura are the immense pine trees scattered over the fields dotted with herds of cows and horses.
The winter hike starts at the La Corbatière, parking stop, right at the highest point of the route, at around 1,090 m. With no significant uphill sections, it descends gently across the open plateau. Meadows and pastures dominate the scenery, with uninterrupted views over the largely undulating landscape.
The five-kilometre route descends by only around 70 metres in total, making for a pleasantly steady walk. After just over an hour, the houses of La Sagne draw closer. The Temple de la Sagne and Café du Cerf lie slightly off the route, which continues into the village.
The gentle descent continues between the first houses. On the edge of the settlement, Le Cochon Rose is also not far from the route, before the winter hike ends after just over an hour and twenty minutes at the La Sagne, gare stop.
