01/ Overview
The route
This hike from Saignelégier leads you to Le Noirmont through the typical scenery of the Jura. The route allows you to discover the capital of the Franches-Montagnes, Saignelégier, well known for its Marché-Concours National de chevaux (National Horse Show).
The winter hike begins on the outskirts of Saignelégier at the Saignelégier, Bellevue bus stop. Within the first kilometre, the route climbs gently to its highest point at just over 1,000 m. The houses then recede, giving way to the broad, open Jura plateau. With only gentle gradients, the trail crosses meadows and pastures before gradually losing elevation. The views remain expansive throughout.
Around the halfway point, Au Pain d'Antan lies directly on the route. From here, the winter hiking trail continues through open countryside towards Le Noirmont. Near the end, the houses become more closely spaced as the route enters the village. Maison Wenger lies beside the trail close to the finish, while the Church of Saint-Hubert stands slightly off the route. After a total of around six kilometres and just under two hours, the winter hike ends at the Le Noirmont, gare stop.
