01/ Overview

The route

As there a few meters in altitude to climb, this hike is popular with families, groups and senior citizens. You arrive with the bus from Elm to Obererbs. And for descending from Ämpächli, a cable car, mountain carts or kick scooters are available.

From the Elm, Obererbs Skihütte bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point at Obererbs. At around 1'700 m, this is already the highest point on the route, close to the Ärbser Stock. The broad hiking trail initially crosses open meadows and pastures, mostly descending gently towards the valley. Short uphill sections ensure that elevation is not lost continuously.

The trail then enters the forest. The Chnellis barbecue site offers an early opportunity for a break. Farther down, a second stopping place lies beside the trail at the Im Bach barbecue site. The route then continues through alternating woodland and open terrain, with gentle ups and downs.

Towards the end, the trail passes Älpli and shortly afterwards reaches the Ämpächli barbecue site. After a total of around six kilometres and just over an hour and a half, the hike ends in Elm (Ämpächli). The Empächli stop is just a few steps from the destination.
