Sardona-Welterbe-Weg, Stage 6/6

This stage features the impressive moorland of the Segnasboden, thundering waterfalls, deep gorges, boldly constructed bridges and lush forests. On the Segnes pass at an altitude of 2,625 metres, exceptional geological phenomena can be admired from close up.

The roughly 21-kilometre mountain hike begins at the Elm, Station bus stop. A good nine hours should be allowed for the entire route. After the last houses, the trail climbs through forest and across open slopes to the Tschinglen-Wirtschaft mountain inn. The ascent totals around 1,900 metres; above the inn, the surroundings become increasingly barren and rocky.

The white-red-white marked mountain trail now leads out of the valley and into the high mountains. Near the Grosses Tschingelhorn, the route reaches its highest point at around 2,630 m. Shortly afterwards, the trail crosses the Segnespass, also known as Pass dil Segnas, from the Glarus side to the Graubünden side.

Beyond the pass, a long descent leads across rocky slopes and open pastures. The Segneshütte lies slightly off the route, while the trail continues directly to the Startgels mountain restaurant. Farther down, pastures and forest alternate before the first houses of Flims come into view. The destination is at the Foppa valley station, just a few steps from the Flims Dorf bus stop.
