Fafleralp-Rundweg

The route is closed until further notice. A glacier experience at the far end of the untouched Lötschental: this hike leads to Lake Anen and the eponymous hut, which overlooks the entire valley. It returns along the Lonza river to Fafleralp with magnificent views of the Lang Glacier.

The approximately eleven-kilometre circular hike begins directly at the Fafleralp bus stop. Initially, a waymarked hiking trail leads across open meadows and pastures to Guggistafel. The terrain remains open and easy to navigate as the trail gains elevation at a steady rate.

Higher up, the path narrows and takes on the character of a mountain trail. The steady ascent leads to the highest point of the circuit, near Jegichnubel at around 2,355 m. By this point, well over half the route has been completed. The route then descends again into open alpine pastures, and the steeper section soon gives way to a more comfortable hiking trail.

The return route continues down the valley via Gletscherstafel. Towards the end, the gradient eases and Fafleralp draws closer once more. After just under four hours and around 680 metres of ascent, the circuit ends back at the Fafleralp bus stop.
