01/ Overview
The route
From Fräkmüntegg, the route follows the wooded ridge down into the Eigenthal. Open pastures, quiet stretches of forest and the mountain trail over Höchberg characterise this short panoramic hike.
The panoramic gondola runs from Kriens up to Fräkmüntegg, where the route begins at the stop of the same name. After a short ascent, the trail soon reaches its highest point at around 1,440 m. It then follows the wooded ridge towards Lauelenegg. Between the trees, open pastures and views into the Eigenthal repeatedly come into view.
For long stretches, a mountain trail continues in a steady descent. At Höchberg, the route runs directly over the wooded height before continuing via Chräigütsch. The alternation of forest and open countryside characterises this peaceful middle section.
Towards the end, the path broadens into a hiking trail again and reaches the first houses of Eigenthal. Shortly before the destination, the Chapel of St Maria stands directly beside the route. A little later, after just under two hours, the hike of just over five kilometres ends at Eigenthalerhof; the nearby PostBus stop is only a few steps away.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
