01/ Overview
The route
Fruttli the marmot points the way: this family-friendly circuit of just under an hour leads through Melchsee-Frutt to the Melchsee, with wooden figures, playgrounds and activities along the route.
The pushchair-friendly circular trail begins at the Melchsee-Frutt, alte Bergstation stop and leads through the small village. At Stäubiloch, a former turbine installation recalls the use of hydropower; it once supplied the Hotel Reinhard with electricity. The route then heads out across open meadows. Ten large wooden animals and activities centred on Fruttli the marmot accompany the trail. Near Vogelbiel, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,920 m before descending gently to the Balmeregg fire pit.
The circuit then remains almost level as it approaches the houses of Melchsee-Frutt once more. Playgrounds provide further variety along the way. At the Fruttkapelle, built between 1899 and 1900, the trail reaches the shore of the Melchsee. Situated at 1,893 m, this mountain lake is impounded by an artificial dam. From the lake, the final section leads back through the village to the old mountain station and the stop of the same name.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
