Giro lungolago attorno al Monte Caslano

This path leads along the shores of Lake Lugano and in two sections along Monte Caslano. In addition to winding alleys and the lively piazza of Caslano, spectacular views of the straits of Lavena Ponte Tresa and Italy beckon.

The nine-kilometre circuit begins directly at Caslano station. It initially follows paths that are not consistently waymarked through the residential area of Magliasina. Shortly after the start, the route reaches its highest point at around 300 m. From there, the profile remains almost level, with only around 60 metres of ascent in total.

As the route continues, open meadows alternate with quiet village outskirts and built-up sections. From Caslano, a waymarked hiking trail is followed for an extended stretch. With no significant climbs, it leads through the area around Stremadone and onwards towards Torrazza.

About halfway round, the route reaches Lake Lugano, also known as Ceresio. Here, the water lies directly beside the path. Nearby rises Monte Caslano, a 526 m inselberg surrounded on three sides by the lake. Later, the circuit passes the Taverna dei Pescatori. Finally, paths that are again not consistently waymarked lead back to Caslano station. A little over two hours should be allowed for the entire hike.
