Grand Bisse d'Ayent

The Bisse d’Ayent is one of the most beautiful irrigation channels in the Valais. The hike along this historic water conduit begins at the impressive Tseuzier dam. The highlight is the reconstructed channel built of boards that runs along the vertical cliff at Torrent-Croix.

From the Anzère, Barrage de Tseuzier bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point at the dam. Lac de Tseuzier lies directly beside the route. At around 1'780 m, the hike’s highest point has already been reached. From here, the long, mostly gentle descent towards Arbaz begins.

The mountain trail, marked in white-red-white, initially winds through open meadows and woodland. At Les Rousses, the surroundings briefly become more settled before the forest soon takes over again. About halfway along, the route leads directly to the Le Grand Bisse d’Ayent viewpoint. From here, it continues across the wooded slope before the path broadens and the landscape becomes increasingly dotted with small settlements.

Via La Boucielle and Pralan, the final section descends steadily to Arbaz. Shortly before the destination, Etang Long appears between the trees. The Café du Lac stands beside the lake. A little farther on, the hike of just over three hours ends at the Arbaz, café du Lac bus stop.
