Iffigsee-Rundweg

The around five-hour round tour from Iffigenalp - Iffigsee - Iffighore - Hohberg - back to Iffigenalp leads through the attractive nature reserve of Gelten-Iffigen. In July and August, a richly varied and rare world of flora is found on the rugged and romantic Hohberg.

The circular hike begins at the Lenk, Iffigenalp bus stop, directly beside Berghaus Iffigenalp. The mountain trail, marked white-red-white, climbs across open alpine pastures. From the outset, it ascends steadily, accounting for a significant portion of the almost 900 metres of elevation gain. After the first long ascent, the route runs directly alongside Iffigsee, a mountain lake in the western Bernese Alps.

Above the lake, the ascent continues through open terrain. Around the halfway point, the trail reaches its highest point near Iffighorn at approximately 2,380 m. The long descent back then begins, still following a mountain trail and almost entirely crossing open pastures. The descent gradually approaches Iffigenalp again and ends at Berghaus Iffigenalp and the nearby bus stop. Around four and a half hours should be allowed for the eleven-kilometre circuit.
