Via Alpina, Stage 16/20

From Lenk via the Wallegggraben, up into lynx territory, through a damp, eroded limestone region with far-reaching views. Over the Trüttlisbergpass and through the long Turbachtal valley with its varied history down to the sophistication of Gstaad.

From Lenk railway station, the route initially leads through the village and soon reaches the Wallbachschlucht. The long ascent begins in the forest; after the first kilometre, the broader hiking trail gives way to a mountain path that climbs across open slopes towards Trütlisbergpass.

After around nine kilometres, the hike reaches its highest point near Tube at just over 2'060 m. A little later, the path crosses Türli. The main ascent is now over, but there is still a long way to Gstaad. The mountain path descends through alpine pastures and forest into the Turbachtal, with long stretches of steady downhill gradient.

Houses reappear at Turbach. The final section follows an easier hiking trail through the valley and into the built-up area of Gstaad. After a total of around 22 kilometres, approximately 1'150 metres of ascent and about seven hours, the route ends at Gstaad railway station.
