Knonaueramt-Weg

This route starts at Hausen am Albis by Türlersee lake and leads through the enchanting Säuliamt recreational area to Affoltern am Albis. A beautiful excursion with captivating views into the distance and interesting cultural monuments.

From the Hausen a.A., Türlersee bus stop, the trail first leads to the Türlersee in the Knonaueramt. Early on, it climbs to the route’s highest point at around 680 m. It then descends through meadows and pastures to Heisch, accompanied by the Heischer Dorfbach. A few short sections lie outside the marked hiking trail network.

Beyond the houses, the route enters the Huserholz and later reaches Kappel am Albis. Close to the trail stands Kloster Kappel, a former Cistercian monastery. The hiking trail then crosses open farmland to Rifferswil. The modest overall ascent and predominantly gentle descent characterise this hike of around three and a half hours.

In the final third, fields, village streets and short stretches of stream alternate. The route is accompanied first by the Unterdorfbach and later by the Dorfbach. Passing the first houses of Mettmenstetten, the trail leads into the village and finally to Mettmenstetten railway station.
