01/ Overview
The route
The hiking trail leads you through the Wilderness park Zurich Sihlwald. After a steep ascent you reach Albishorn. Passing primeval forest structures, you finally arrive at the visitor's centre Sihlwald.
From the Hausen a.A., Post bus stop, the route initially leads out of Hausen am Albis. The ascent through the forest soon begins, interrupted here and there by open meadows. Following the consistently yellow-marked hiking trail, the route climbs at a steady pace towards the Albis ridge. After the main ascent, the Bergrestaurant Albishorn lies directly on the route. A few steps further on, the highest point is reached at the Albishorn, at around 900 m.
From here, the elevation profile changes markedly. The trail re-enters the forest and begins a long descent towards the Sihltal. Clearings and open pastures break up this predominantly wooded section. Towards the end, the trail descends more steeply and reaches Sihlwald after a total of around six kilometres. The hike ends near the Sihlwald stop. Allow just under two hours for the entire route, with around 300 metres of ascent.
