01/ Overview
The route
An excursion to the Zürichsee lake is always well worthwhile. The stretch from Horgen to Wädenswil affords particularly enchanting views over this popular body of water and the opportunity to enjoy a superb panorama.
The roughly seven-kilometre hike begins at the Horgen (See) stop. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially climbs gently through the houses of Horgen. The highest point, at around 410 m, is reached within the first kilometre; with only 20 metres of ascent in total, the route remains almost level. Before long, the trail draws close to Lake Zurich, and the shoreline opens up at Seepark.
Beyond Seerestaurant Meilibach, open meadows, stretches of shoreline and residential areas alternate. Around halfway along, the trail reaches the Au peninsula. Schloss Au, a manor house with parkland and agricultural land, lies around 200 m from the route. The trail stays closer to the lake and skirts the small Ausee, which belongs to the Au estate. It then continues without any significant ascent through Au and along Lake Zurich to Wädenswil. After just under two hours, the hike ends at Wädenswil railway station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
