01/ Overview
The route
The penultimate stage of the lakeside circuit takes you from Meilen to Küsnacht, amongst villas, meadows and fields. Although the area around the lake’s right shore enjoys a lot of sun, you can also find shaded spots in the Küsnacht ravine with its waterfalls and boulders.
From the Meilen stop, the marked hiking trail leads uphill out of the village. For a short stretch it follows the Dorfbach before the Meilener Dorfbach waterfall, directly beside the trail, provides a first highlight. The built-up area then gradually thins out, and the route continues to gain elevation between open meadows and stretches of woodland.
At around the halfway point, the route reaches its highest point at just under 600 metres. Here the terrain becomes flatter, and the trail continues with gentle ascents and descents through a landscape shaped by woodland and the edges of settlements above the right shore of Lake Zurich. A gentle descent follows towards Küsnacht. After around eight kilometres and just over two hours, the hike ends at the Küsnacht ZH, Allmend stop. The moderate climbs and consistently waymarked hiking trail make this an enjoyable route between two Lake Zurich municipalities.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
