01/ Overview
The route
A flat trail, embedded between the hills of the Upper Töss Valley: The Rietli cross-country ski trail of Fischenthal is especially popular for beginners who would like to start leisurely. It has been selected as Herzloipe (heart cross-country ski trail).
The trail starts in Fischenthal, around 350 m from the railway station. At the Beiz Oberhof, the circuit leaves the houses behind and passes Fistelweiher before heading into open countryside. Between meadows and wetlands, the terrain remains gently undulating, with no major climbs on the four-kilometre circuit. Over the full distance, the short rises add up to around 50 metres of elevation gain.
At Rietli, the trail continues across the broad valley floor. About halfway along, it reaches its highest point at around 760 m. It then turns back in a wide arc. Open expanses continue to dominate the scenery, interspersed with isolated farms and houses along the edge of the route.
Towards the end, the trail approaches the hamlet of Fistel before returning to Fischenthal. After just over an hour, the circuit closes at the starting point; Fischenthal railway station is again around 350 m away.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
