01/ Overview
The route
The vinicultural walk Balade Viticole Rive Droite is much more than just a path through Geneva's varied wine-growing region. Its itinerary offers a surprising diversity of landscapes and allows you to discover the beautiful and unspoilt villages surrounding Geneva. And all this just a stone's throw from the city centre.
From the Meyrin, Hôpital de La Tour stop, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail soon leaves the built-up area behind. Open fields set the scene at the start, interspersed with Bourdigny-Dessous and Bourdigny-Dessus. Via Choully, the route climbs to its highest point near the Signal de Bernex. At around 500 m, the elevation remains modest, but the constant ups and downs add up.
The trail then continues via Peissy through the open Geneva countryside, dipping into woodland in places. Around halfway, it passes the Buvette du Centre Nature du Vallon de l’Allondon. The small settlements of Malval and Essertines follow.
Towards the end, fields, stretches of woodland and residential areas alternate once more. Dardagny is reached after around five hours; the Château de Dardagny lies slightly off the route. The final section descends to La Plaine. The destination is just a few steps from the railway station.
