The route
Short, demanding mountain hike from the Binntalhütte to the Albrun Pass and back to Freichi across rocky high terrain near the Albrunhorn.
The starting point for this short, demanding mountain hike is Freichi near the Binntalhütte. The nearest public transport stop, Binn, Brunnebiel, is just under four kilometres away. From the hut, the white-red-white marked mountain path climbs across open, stony slopes. After around a third of the route, Bocchetta d'Arbola is reached: the Albrun Pass at around 2,400 m. This mule pass crosses the southern main ridge of the Alps.
From the pass, the route continues for a stretch away from the markings, across rock and open terrain, to the highest point of the route at just over 2,400 m, near the Albrunhorn. The return route descends again on the mountain path through the sparse high-alpine landscape to the Binntalhütte and ends at Freichi.
