01/ Overview
The route
A hike in the Binntal landscape park to the idyllic Schaplersee lake. The zigzag ascent through the forest is quite challenging. On the Hockbode plateau you can enjoy a magnificent summit panorama amid lush alpine meadows.
The starting point is just a few steps from the Binn, Fäld bus stop. Beyond Fäld, the ascent begins without much of a warm-up. The mountain trail, marked in white, red and white, climbs steadily across open slopes and through sections of forest. At the highest point, at around 2,230 m, the most strenuous part is over. The route then turns onto the long descent towards Binn.
The mountain trail soon gives way to an easier, yellow-marked hiking trail. Between pastures and woodland, the route now loses altitude quickly. After the long descent, the first houses of Wilere come into view. From there, the trail leads directly past St. Michael’s Church and continues downhill to Binn. The destination is near the Binn, Dorf bus stop. A good three and a half hours should be allowed for the eight-kilometre hike.
