01/ Overview
The route
An excursion from Fiesch to the Fieschertal - always alongside the lively Wysswasser river - is the purest of natural experiences. Here the mountain landscape of the Valais is presented at it's best. It's impossible to do anything but relax and enjoy it.
The short hike to Fieschertal begins at the Fiesch (valley station) stop. Over three kilometres, the trail climbs only gently and takes just under 40 minutes. The houses of Fiesch are soon left behind; the yellow-marked hiking trail initially crosses open terrain before entering the forest. Meadows alternate with wooded sections.
With no major climbs, the route continues out along the valley, gaining around 70 metres in elevation overall. The ascent is spread evenly over almost the entire route. Shortly before the destination, the trail reaches its highest point at around 1,110 m. The first houses of Fieschertal then come into view. The Hotel-Restaurant Alpenblick lies close to the trail before the final metres lead into the village. The hike ends in Fieschertal at the Dorfplatz stop.
