01/ Overview

The route

Start from the Hannig with its superb panorama for a 5-kilometre descent into Saas-Fee. Pure fun for the whole family!

The five-kilometre toboggan run begins at the Hannig stop at around 2,340 m, the highest point on the route. Bergrestaurant Hannig stands right by the start. From here, the toboggan run heads downhill and soon enters the forest.

In the middle section, the forest recedes. The route crosses open slopes and steadily loses elevation. In total, there is an elevation difference of around 520 metres between Hannig and the valley. Later, open areas and stretches of forest alternate as the toboggan run continues towards Saas-Fee.

Towards the end, the first houses replace the forest. The toboggan run reaches the built-up area of Saas-Fee and passes close to the Essstube. After just over an hour, the run ends at the Saas-Fee (Hannig) stop, only a few steps from the finishing point.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Sledding is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
