01/ Overview
The route
This route begins in the charming village of Saanenmöser and leads to the chalet village of Schönried. The intact nature of the enchanting landscape seen along this tranquil path is reminiscent of an typical Swiss picture postcard.
From Saanenmöser railway station, the yellow-marked hiking trail initially leads through the village. The houses are soon left behind, and the route climbs only gently across open meadows towards the pass. Near Saanenmöserpass, it reaches its highest point at around 1,270 m. The pass links Zweisimmen and Saanen; both the main road and the Montreux–Lenk im Simmental railway line cross it.
The route then continues almost entirely gently downhill on a broad path. Open terrain accompanies this short stretch until the first houses herald the approach to Schönried. In the final third, Restaurant Bärgsunne lies directly on the route. From there, the trail continues into the village, losing a little more elevation before reaching its lowest point. After a total of around 3 km and just over 40 minutes, the hike ends at Schönried railway station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
