Suonenweg Brandalp–Eischoll

To hikers’ delight, both the «Alte Suon» and «Alte Eischlersuon» irrigation channels carry water throughout the summer months. Another highlight of the route is the view of the Bietschhorn in all its glory.

The hike begins on Brandalp at the Brand (Unterbäch) stop. Initially, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs into the Bawald forest. Alternating between dense woodland and clearings, it steadily gains altitude. After around two and a half kilometres, the highest point is reached at just over 1,800 m. From here, the route leads predominantly downhill through a landscape of alternating forest and open alpine pastures.

In the middle section, the route follows the Alte Eischlersuon for just over a kilometre. The trail stays close to the watercourse and winds through the forest before the terrain opens out once more into meadows and pastures. The long descent now sets the pace, amounting to around 700 metres of elevation loss in total.

Towards the end, the trail leaves the wooded slopes and reaches Eischoll. After around ten kilometres and approximately three hours, the hike ends near the Eischoll upper station.
