01/ Overview

The route

A short urban walk through Hirslanden: amid villas, parks and the Zürichberg forest, the Mühleweiher, shed hall and Kupferhammer tell of the early industry along the Wehrenbach.

The «Züri z Fuess» urban walk through Hirslanden begins at Klusplatz. Once an independent municipality, Hirslanden was later incorporated into Zurich. Right at the start, the route climbs to its highest point at just under 500 m. Amid villas, school grounds and parks, the neighbourhood reveals itself as a loosely developed urban district; the fountain with its fish motif stands directly beside the route.

The circuit then descends towards Burgwies and the edge of the Zürichberg forest. Around the Wehrenbach, the Alte Mühle, the Mühleweiher Burgwies, the shed hall of a former silk-weaving mill and the Kupferhammer recall the neighbourhood’s early industrial past. At Mühlebödeli, the dense cityscape briefly gives way to woodland and more open ground, followed by a short section on the waymarked hiking trail.

The route returns along Drahtzugstrasse and between the houses of Hirslanden. Passing the Klus Park Kapelle, the approximately three-and-a-half-kilometre circuit arrives back at the Zürich, Klusplatz stop after around one and a half hours.
