01/ Overview
The route
From Bellevue to Lake Zurich and over the wooded Burghölzli hill to Tiefenbrunnen: an urban walk through Riesbach linking neighbourhood streets, gardens, stream banks and surprisingly green heights.
The Exploring Seefeld urban walk begins at the Zürich, Bellevue stop in the heart of the Old Town. Passing the Kronenhalle and Waldmannbrunnen, the route climbs to Hohe Promenade. Quieter streets and paths then lead into the Riesbach neighbourhood, where Neumünsterkirche forms a striking landmark. At Hornbach, the city becomes greener; the route follows the stream through gardens and open grounds down to Lake Zurich.
At Zürichhorn, the route initially stays close to the shore before climbing again through Patumbah-Park and the Botanical Garden. On the Burghölzli hill, woodland replaces the rows of houses. Shortly afterwards, the highest point is reached at around 460 m near Adlisberg. The descent leads back to Riesbach and Hedwig-Stünzi-Terrasse. From there, the route continues through the final neighbourhood streets to the Zürich Tiefenbrunnen stop, where the roughly four-hour walk ends.
