01/ Overview
The route
This Züri-z-Fuess city walk traces Zurich football stories beyond the stadiums: from Münsterhof through Aussersihl to Letzigrund, passing kickabout pitches, pubs and familiar city landmarks.
The city walk, just over five kilometres long, begins at the Zürich, Helmhaus stop. From Münsterhof, dominated by the Fraumünster, the route leads to Bahnhofstrasse and continues towards Kaufleuten. Rather than focusing on results on the pitch, it explores football culture in everyday Zurich life, with local bars and public squares providing the settings for its stories and anecdotes.
Passing El Lokal and the Kaserne, the route reaches Helvetiaplatz and the heart of Aussersihl. Around Langstrasse, Restaurant Zentralstube and the Feldstrasse kickabout pitch, the theme unfolds far from the major arenas. The route remains almost level throughout and runs through densely built-up urban areas. Near Fritschiwiese, the highest point is already reached at just over 410 metres.
The route then continues via Albisriederplatz, with its fountain featuring a water-spouting mastiff, towards Hardau. Rennbahn Hardau provides one final football location before Stadion Letzigrund and the nearby Zürich, Letzigrund tram stop are reached after around an hour and a half.
