An old pass trail leads over the Unteren Hauenstein to Olten. Thanks to the basis tunnel, only the S-Bahn trains now run on the scenically-rewarding section over the pass. The views from the Hauenstein can thus be enjoyed in peace.

From the Läufelfingen bus stop, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially leads out of the village. It climbs towards the Unterer Hauenstein between open meadows and woodland. After just under two kilometres, the pass is reached, which is also the highest point of the hike at around 690 m. Here the route crosses the Jura pass connecting Läufelfingen and Trimbach. Hauenstein follows shortly afterwards, before the longer descent begins.

The trail descends through woodland and open countryside. At Isebähnli, it passes another place to stop for refreshments before the settlements become denser. In Trimbach, the hike leads past the Johanneskirche and continues through increasingly urban surroundings. Olten is reached towards the end, with the final steps leading to the railway station. Around two hours are sufficient for the eight kilometres, with considerably more descent than ascent. This easy route is therefore ideal as a short crossing of the Jura, with a marked transition from village to town.
